Everyone can help – with compassionate advice & useful tips all across continents. The NGO MENSCHEN FÜR MENSCHEN uses this basic principle for an unique fundraising campaign, conceived and implemented by BBDO Berlin. Together with LOVESTONE FILM and director Benjamin Kahlmeyer, MFM has realized 30 „Helptorials“: authentic short films by people from rural Ethiopia who give us their advice via social media. Inspired by the rich impressions of Bangkok night life, I decided to come up with a short essay on photography, interweaving passages of Susan Sontag’s famous quote: Stay eager!

Thomas Henry – First Mover

Since 2010, the historic figure of Thomas Henry has been the main inspiration for a young company from Germany to produce a perfect selection of premium bitter lemonades. For this short film, we resurrected him from the 18th century and told his story.

Solimate – Not Just Another Mate

SOLIDRINKS is a social drink project that supports local refugees’ initiatives and that campaigns against discrimination and racism. When they competed for DEUTSCHER INTEGRATIONSPREIS in 2017, our task was to create an informative yet entertaining campaign video for social media. Absolutely zero budget… but with loads of caffeine!

Daniel Eltinger – A Proclamation

In May 2012, the University of Oxford organized an exhibition featuring twenty polychromatic abstract paintings by Daniel Eltinger. With the support of the Allianz Kulturstiftung, a competition among filmmakers was run to produce a short documentary about Eltinger’s technique of “inversive painting”. The jury selected filmmaker Benjamin Kahlmeyer’s innovative proposal. Kahlmeyer visited Eltinger in his studio and observed how he created an artwork between dusk and dawn. The resulting 7-minute documentary “Daniel Eltinger: A Proclamation” offers a sensitive and intimate portrait of the artist. Interweaving Eltinger’s voice recordings with surreal musical sequences and imagery of his richly coloured compositions, the film yields fascinating insights into his technique and philosophy of art. The combination of Kahlmeyer’s direction and John Gürtler’s music has led to a compelling account of Eltinger and his approach to painting.
